Sundials

Solar Analemma

Everyone recognizes the sun is higher in the summer months than in winter (technically, the sun's declination is changing during the course of the calendar year). These changes are the result of the tilt of the Earth's rotation axis and offer another way to graphically represent the sun's variable motion. This plot, of the sun's declination versus its equation of time, is referred to as the sun's analemma.
